Dr. Katie Mahon, Psychologist 

Katie Mahon received her B.A. in Psychology from New York University and her master’s degree and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from St. John’s University.  She is highly trained in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as interpersonal therapy and incorporates mindfulness-based interventions into her work.  Dr. Mahon works with adolescents and adults who are experiencing a wide range of problems, such as depression, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, obsessions and compulsions, panic, trauma, and difficulties in socializing and communicating.  In addition, Dr. Mahon conducts research at Mount Sinai School of Medicine where she investigates the neural structures and mechanisms that may underlie disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.  Her approach to therapy is collaborative and is based strongly on research-supported techniques, yet it is also informed by the uniqueness of each individual and his or her experiences and context.
